dine on campus

UTM is currently a Fair Trade designated Campus!

On September 22nd, 2016 we were the 18th campus to be designated in Canada, and we continue to push forward and be better each year by bringing in more Canadian Fair Trade certified products, hosting more events, and educating the UTM community in more interactive and effective ways.

Colman Commons Waste Room

We are committed to doing all that we can to help educate and support our guests so they can correctly dispose of their waste.

In March 2019, alongside UTM’s Hospitality and Retail Services Team, we enhanced the waste room in Colman Commons in OPH to provide physical examples of what goes where in order to eliminate questions or any areas of confusion. We have taken actual items sold on campus, emptied them, cleaned them, and glued them to the walls above the place where they need to be thrown – Glass/Metal Recycling, Plastic Recycling, Garbage, Food Waste, Liquid Waste. We have also installed a sink for liquid waste and a strainer to catch the solids in order to ensure proper disposal.
