Rizwan has 33 years of Hospitality experience, and has been working for Chartwells in Langara since March 2012. After going through Chef School & starting first as a Cook working for The Westin Hotel Edmonton, and then shifting his passion into Baking. Working as an Assistant Pastry Chef at The Westin Hotel until moving to Vancouver. Then Rizwan was a Pastry Chef at Monte Cristo Bakery until he opened his own Catering Company in South Vancouver. After successfully running it for 15 years he moved on to a position of General Manager at Wendy’s. He then worked for Compass at BCIT as a Unit Manager and is now the Food Services Director at Langara College. Worked from a “hands-on” to a Director’s position. Rizwan has a huge advantage of gaining knowledge and experience in both, back and front of the house operations. He is recognized as a highly motivated manager, with strong organizational and people management skills, constantly seeking for self- improvement and success of his team.
He is focused on delivering outstanding food quality and customer service to Langara’s guest experience.
Patrick began working in Langara in September 2012. After graduating from UBC in 2006, Patrick began his hospitality career working in banquet and catering departments at Hyatt Regency and River Rock Casino. After gaining experience in planning and execution of events and conferences, Patrick moved on to food service management in 2009. He has vast experience overseeing food service operations for fine dining establishments. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experience to create the best dining experience on campus.
Carol has been working for Chartwells for over 6 years. She moved from Alberta to Vancouver this year and began working in Langara as the floor manager in September 2017. As the floor manager, you’ll often see Carol supporting the staff in the front line and managing catering throughout the campus. She earned her professional cooking diploma in 1996 in Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Carol enjoys the fast-paced working environment in the kitchen and is excited to be making connections with staff and students at Langara. She is passionate about customer service and providing the best dining experience on campus.
Chef Nafisa has 31 years of professional experience working as a chef. She was the first woman chef in Bangladesh, and has over 20 years of experience running restaurants and cafeterias. She is passionate about cooking, and began cooking as a hobby at a young age. She initially learned how to cook from her family members, and progressed to earn a Culinary Degree from VCC. She has won multiple awards for her work as a Chef at Chartwells.
